The 2019 remembrance event

This year's Special Guest, Andrea Corr

Our Light Up a Life ceremony and celebration is taking place on Sunday the 1st December at 3:45pm in the beautiful grounds of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross. We hope you can join us for this moving, magical evening. Thousands of people will gather to commemorate the lives of their loved ones who have passed on, to look back with joy and to celebrate the festive season.

This year marks the 27th Anniversary of the event and we are delighted to welcome Andrea Corr as our special guest of honour. We are also delighted to welcome back Ian Dempsey as MC.

As with previous years this event is set to be a musical extravaganza and we will be entertained by a range of acts including the St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Choir, St Jude’s Folk Group, The Lineup and the CIE Male Voice Choir, all of whom will be performing songs that are guaranteed to get you feeling festive!

We will have an array of festive merchandise to kick start your Christmas season.. so be sure to leave plenty of time to look through all the gifts, cards and plants that we will have available for purchase – it’s the perfect opportunity to do some Christmas preparation and buy what you need for friends and family ahead of the usual rush in the shops!

If the day is cold… you will be able to keep warm and toast the season with some hot apple punch and mince pies; the army will also be on hand to serving their delicious hot soup for free.

This year Daniel OÕDonnell was the special guest who turned the lights on the tree and entertained the crowds at this popular event, which marks the start of Christmas for many regular attendees. Christmas has always been a time to remember loved ones and in 2016, over 35,000 people were remembered through lights sponsored in their names. These can be shared online with friends and family and sponsors are able to upload photos and personal tributes. This is the most important fundraiser for the organisation and raised over Û454,000 last year to enable the provision of loving care for which it is known. Entertainment at the event included the Line-up choir, St. Judes Choir, the CIE Male Voice Choir and the Palestrina Boys Choir. The event was generously sponsored by Friends First and supported by Clancy Construction. Lights, Christmas Cards, vouchers, a calendar and a cookbook can be purchased right up until Christmas either from the Hospice (HaroldÕs Cross or Blackrock) or at www.lightupalife.ie Media contact: Carina OÕNeill, Communications Manager: 087 4146363 1IMAGE PHOTOGRAPHY Studio: +353 1 493 9947 / Mob: +353 87 246 9221

It promises to be an amazing atmosphere and the highlight of the evening will be the lighting of our magnificent Light Up a Life Christmas tree. Every year, thousands of people take a moment to remember their loved ones by sponsoring a light on the tree – each light symbolising the memory of someone special. It is a truly beautiful and powerful moment to witness, so we hope you are able to make it.

Remember, if you would like to pay your own tribute and Light Up a Life of someone dear to you, then you can do so here; the lights cost just €6 each and you will be able upload a photo and a personal message of tribute.

Thank you for your support this year, Merry Christmas!
